About Us

I live in the middle of a richly forested area in the Charente and have 5 adjacently built rooms for rent. Each has its own front door and private bathroom.

The rooms are 18m² and have 160cm wide beds. Every room has recently been completely renovated. The rooms are isolated well with specifically soundproofed isolation. All rooms have free internet, smart TVs, independent heating and aircondition. I adore vintage styles, which is thoroughly reflected in the rooms’ looks.

We’re located in Maison Neuve, in the municipality Vouzan. 2 kilometers next to us is the village of Sers, with a bakery and a butcher. In Soyeux, 22km away, there is a large shopping area with amongst others a Carrefour, Aldi, Grand Frais, Marie Blanche, biological stores, Action, etc.
The centre of Angoulême is only 16 km away.

In Angoulême you can find, besides the indoors market, in the surrounding alleys which are great for strolling many restaurants and cafes. Among these is my favourite: Garden is a vegan café for coffee/tea or lunch. In Angoulême there’s also the famous yearly Bande la desine international comic festival, which is very worthwhile.

Somewhat further removed, but certainly worth the journey for wine lovers, are Cognac (69km / hour by car) and Bordeaux (139km / 145 minutes by car). Perigeux in the Dordogne is also only 69km / an hour by car away.

Here in the woods you can endlessly hike, jog and bike. With the help of an app I’ll share all my recommended hikes with you. There’s a few lakes in the region that I recommend as well, Saint-Estèphe is 30 minutes by car and so is the lake of Angoulême where you can also find the swimming pool Nautilus.
The beautiful swimming pool Base de Loisiers Gardes en Pontaroux is only 15 minutes away. If you want to visit the beach Royan is 142km or a 100 minutes by car away.

My name is Iris and I grew up in Amsterdam. Recently I’ve moved to this lovely region of France. I can find peace and tranquility here in nature, but also within easy reach of Angoulême or can take a day trip to Bordeaux. I adore art, architecture, design and music but have worked in catering and hospitality all my life and have been responsible for sustainable business plans.

All guests are welcome in my communal kitchen and on the different patios in my garden.
I love talking to my guests about all manner of subjects. Important is that all enjoy their stay and respect each other.
